You’ve been thinking about it. Maybe for months. Maybe you’ve had the tab open on your browser, then closed it, then opened it again.
Here’s what I want you to know before anything else: you are already ready. Not ready once you lose the weight. Not ready once you feel more confident. Ready right now, exactly as you are.
If you’ve been Googling “boudoir photography Austin,” “boudoir photographer Round Rock,” or “boudoir near Cedar Park” — this guide is written specifically for you. Women from Liberty Hill, Georgetown, Leander, and across the greater Austin area come to Studio B, and this is everything you need to know before you book. I’m going to walk you through everything — what to expect, how to prepare, what to wear, and why women who come to Studio B almost always say the same thing afterward: “I wish I’d done this sooner.”
What Is Boudoir Photography, Really?
Boudoir photography is an intimate portrait experience designed to celebrate you, your body, your story, your beauty while all in a safe, private, empowering space.
The word “boudoir” comes from a French term for a woman’s private sitting room: her sanctuary. That’s exactly what a boudoir session should feel like. Not a performance. Not something you have to earn. A space that’s entirely yours.
At Studio B, every session is built around fine art photography, meaning we’re not just taking photos. We’re creating imagery that’s artistic, timeless, and deeply personal. Women from Round Rock, Cedar Park, Liberty Hill, Georgetown, Leander, and all across the Austin area book sessions for all kinds of reasons:
- A milestone birthday (hello, 30s, 40s, and beyond)
- As a gift for a partner or for a wedding
- After a major life change — divorce, weight loss, illness, a new chapter
- Simply to celebrate themselves — no reason needed
Every reason is valid. Every woman belongs here.
“But I’m Not That Kind of Woman…”
Let’s address the thing most women think but don’t say out loud.
Boudoir is for every body. Every age. Every size. Every stage of life. I have photographed women in their 20s through their 60s. Women who have never felt beautiful. Women rebuilding confidence after illness. Women who told me they almost didn’t book because they thought boudoir “wasn’t for someone like them.”
Those are often my favorite sessions because watching someone see herself for the first time, truly see herself, is one of the most powerful things I get to witness as a photographer.
You do not need to:
- Have a “perfect” body
- Know how to pose
- Feel confident walking in
That’s literally my job. I guide you through every single moment.
How to Prepare for Your Austin Boudoir Session
1. Start with a Consultation
Before your shoot, we’ll connect to talk about your vision, your comfort level, and what you’re hoping to walk away with. This isn’t just logistics, it’s how I get to know you so the photos actually feel like you.
2. What to Wear (A Complete Guide)
This is one of the most common questions I get. Here’s the truth: the best outfit is the one that makes you feel like yourself.
That said, here are some options that photograph beautifully:
Classic Lingerie A well-fitted lace bra and panty set never goes wrong. Think rich jewel tones, soft blush, or classic black. High-waisted styles are incredibly flattering for almost every body type.
Bodysuits One of my personal favorites. Bodysuits create a clean, seamless silhouette and come in every style from barely-there to fully covered.
A Simple Button-Down Shirt One of the most universally flattering and romantic looks, especially your partner’s shirt. It’s intimate, personal, and always photographs beautifully.
Cozy and Casual An oversized sweater, a soft robe, even a pair of great underwear and your favorite tank top. Boudoir doesn’t have to mean lingerie.
A Sheet or Nothing at All Implied nude and artistic nude photography, done tastefully, can produce some of the most stunning and empowering images. Many women who were initially nervous about this end up choosing it as their favorite look.
Pro Tips:
- Wear loose clothing on the day of your shoot — no tight waistbands, bra straps, or sock marks before the camera comes out
- Bring 3–4 outfit options so we have variety
- Don’t buy anything new you haven’t tried on and felt good in
- Bring any accessories that feel meaningful: jewelry, heels, a partner’s belonging
3. Beauty Prep
You don’t need to show up camera-ready. Professional hair and makeup is part of the Studio B experience. But here’s what helps in the days before:
- Stay hydrated. Your skin will thank you.
- Exfoliate gently 2–3 days before (not the day of, you want skin to settle)
- Get a manicure/pedicure if that makes you feel polished
- Skip spray tans unless you know how they photograph for your skin tone
- Sleep. A good night’s rest is genuinely the best beauty prep there is.
4. The Day Of
- Eat. Please eat. Running on nerves and no food makes everything harder.
- Arrive without rushing. Give yourself buffer time.
- Bring water and a snack.
- And bring a good playlist in your head. We’re going to have fun!
What Happens During a Studio B Session?
Here’s what a typical session at Studio B looks like:
Arrival & Settling In You’ll arrive, meet me, and take a few minutes to breathe. We’ll chat about the plan for the day, review your outfits, and get you into hair and makeup if that’s included in your package.
The Shoot I direct you through every pose. You don’t have to know what to do with your hands. You don’t have to know angles. I’ll tell you exactly where to look, how to shift your weight, when to laugh (which you will… always). Most sessions involve 3–5 looks and last 2–4 hours.
The Reveal This is the part women always tell me they weren’t prepared for seeing themselves. The gallery reveal is where the magic really lands. Many clients cry. Almost all of them say, “Is that really me?”
Yes. It really is you.
Why Women from Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park & Beyond Choose Studio B
Studio B is a fine art boudoir studio which means the artistry behind every image is intentional. I’m not shooting fast and handing you a USB drive. I’m creating portraits.
Every image is carefully lit, composed, and edited to be timeless. These aren’t photos you’ll cringe at in five years. They’re art you’ll want framed on your wall.
And beyond the photos? My clients tell me the experience itself changed something. One client recently shared that she’d been struggling with her body image after a bodybuilding competition and when she saw her photos, she couldn’t believe it was her.
That’s why I do this.
